Worried About Excessive Sweating? Not Anymore!!
Who is worried about their sweating in their busy hours and tiring schedules? But no one knows what perspiration can lead to. How can we cure abnormal perspiration? Due to this, we cannot even move freely with sweating armpits and cannot even shake hands with others. We may by uneasy by self-consciousness about sweating which may aggravate the sweating further. We cannot do some usual things with sweaty hands like playing musical instruments, using knives deftly and it leads to frequent change of clothes.
Hyperhidrosis is the condition of abnormal perspiration or sweating in order to maintain the body temperature. It is classified as generalized hyperhidrosis, where the person may experience sweating in most parts of the body like face, neck and any other parts. Local hyperhidrosis is the phenomenon of sweating in a particular area in the body. Such excessive sweating is caused by cancers, thyroid problems, obesity and even general fever. Hyperhidrosis is definitely a serious medical condition which requires suitable diagnosis and treatment. Affecting thermoregulation components may also induce hyperhidrosis.
Hyperhidrosis can be further classified as primary, secondary, facial, axillary, palmar and plantar hyperhidrosis based on its causes. When the sweating observed is natural and not due to any medications, then it is primary hyperhidrosis. Secondary excessive sweating is usually caused by unrelated medical situations. To be precise, the conditions that does not cause primary hyperhidrosis. y appropriately treating hyperhidrosis. Excessive sweating can be treated using surgery, lotions or even injections. But they have very much less effect on generalized hyperhidrosis. For the generalized condition, there are some medicines in the market prescribed by doctors to reduce sweating especially, those drugs that block the chemical contact between sweat gland and the nerves.
Antiperspirants are efficient drugs to reduce excessive sweating but it needs to be done regularly. Also it must be applied over dry skin to avoid side effects like sore red skin. Axillary hyperhidrosis can be avoided by sweat gland suction technique. This technique involve in permanently removing the sweat glands. These treatments may also have side effects. I used to have severe palmar hyperhidrosis or what the lay person would deem as sweaty hands. Obviously, I have been researching of the perfect treatment over the years. But what I have come to realize is that there is no best or prefect treatment for sweaty palms. The key reason is that everyone reacts differently to different treatment and respective nervous systems routes sweating outflows somewhat differently. This is also the reason why some people develop compensatory sweating while others do not. Hence, while we cannot conclude on a perfect treatment on hand sweating due to its subjective nature, we can certain find the most effective treatment to stop sweaty palms.
That said, again, you need to apply the correct treatment to depending on the level of intensity of your hand sweating. There are mild cases which simply a few applications of drysol or medicated powders will stop the hand sweating. While on the other side of the scale, whereby no amounts of deodorants could help your dripping palms, you would need strong treatments such as Botox, ETS surgery or Iontophoresis.
Botox is good as a temporary measure to stop sweaty palms with almost immediate relief but requires a continuous follow session every three to six months in order that the dryness persists. And you will develop temporary numbness on your palms for a day or two right after treatment due to the many injections. Over time, resistance to it will render you diminishing returns.
ETS surgery is a surgical procedure which immediately stops sweaty palms for good. However, what most surgeons do inform you but make light of the repercussions is that almost about 90 percent of the patients develop compensatory sweating on their torso, face, feet, underarms or groin. This has caused many patients a whole new set of problems altogether.
By my experience, iontophoresis is one of the most effective treatments for palmar hyperhidrosis. This procedure debut more than 50 years ago and have been tested and proven effective with no side effects and is a procedure whereby you soak your hands into two separate containers of tap water and connect the device. Every session of this procedure takes up to 20 minutes and must be done on a daily basis over a one week period. By the third day, you would start to feel dryer palms and at the end of the week you would have gotten rid of your palmar hyperdidrosis for good. Thereafter, you only need to have one session every three weeks for maintenance. This is the treatment I used to stop sweaty palms.
The only drawback is the cost of the device setting you back about at least a thousand dollars. Hence I proceeded to make my own device which essentially functions just as well as a commercial one, but without the high cost.
So if you are like me then, with sever palmar hyperhidrosis, take time to research iontophoresis and stop sweaty palms before it becomes a real hindrance to your lifestyle.
